Terms of Use
Terms of Use
Plain English. The free tools help you make your own decisions. They don't make them for you.
DRAFT. Not reviewed by a lawyer. Have a lawyer review before launch. Lawyer review
Effective: November 17, 2026
These terms cover your use of the Cargo Theft Watch website and its free tools: the carrier and broker lookup, the rate confirmation checker, the hotspot map and the pickup checklist. By using the site, you agree to them. In these terms, "we" and "us" means Cargo Theft Watch.
Information only, not advice
Everything on this site is general information. It is not legal, business, insurance or compliance advice. For advice about a specific situation, talk to a qualified professional, such as a transportation attorney or your insurance agent.
No guarantee
The site and the tools are provided "as is" and "as available", without any warranty. We work to keep them accurate and working, but we do not promise that any result is complete, correct or current, or that the tools will always be available.
Where the data comes from
The tools show information from FMCSA and other public sources, such as domain registries and CargoNet's public reports. We don't control those sources. Their records can be wrong, incomplete or delayed, and a tool can misread a record or a document.
Your decisions are yours
These free tools are here to help you make your own decisions, not to make them for you. You are responsible for your own vetting and business decisions, including whether to book, dispatch, tender or release a load, and whether to pay anyone. Always confirm on the official records and call back on the number on file.
Warning signs are prompts to check
A warning sign is a prompt to look more closely. It is not a statement that any company has done anything wrong. Many flags have honest explanations. Likewise, a result with no warning signs does not mean a company is legitimate or safe to work with.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cargo Theft Watch is not liable for any loss or damage that comes from using, or relying on, the site or the tools. That includes lost loads, cargo, payments, profits or business, whether direct or indirect. Some places don't allow certain limits on liability, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
Acceptable use
- Use the tools for your own vetting, one check at a time.
- Don't scrape the site or run automated or bulk queries against the tools.
- Don't use the tools or their results to harass, threaten or publicly accuse anyone.
- Don't try to break, overload or get around the site's limits.
We may block access that breaks these rules.
Corrections and disputes
If you believe a result about your company is wrong, email us at hello@cargotheftwatch.com with your USDOT or MC number and what you think is wrong. We'll review it and reply. If we got something wrong, such as our wording or how we display a record, we'll fix it.
We show FMCSA's data as FMCSA publishes it, so we can't change the underlying record. To correct FMCSA data, go to FMCSA: update your registration through Updating Your Registration or Authority, or ask for a review of safety data through FMCSA DataQs.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. When we do, we'll change the effective date at the top of this page. Using the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
